Transparency
About the data
CompareMyVet is committed to being honest and transparent about what we show, where our data comes from, and what it means. Here's everything you need to know.

How we collect data
We bring together public practice information, published price lists and practice-submitted corrections reviewed through our portal. Sources and observation dates are shown where recorded. A missing date is unknown; it does not mean the information was checked today.
Verification methods
CMA reforms
The CMA reforms have phased implementation. Requirements and timing vary by measure and business size; there is no single September deadline for every practice to publish every price.
Read the CMA guidance for veterinary businesses. Guidance checked 11 September 2026.
Data freshness
Prices can change after we observe them. Check the date and source attached to a record, then confirm the current fee with the practice. Dates are not available for every record. If you spot an error, contact us or submit a correction through your claimed practice profile.
What we don't do
We don't accept payment from practices for placement or ranking. We don't recommend specific vets. We're not affiliated with any veterinary group.
What ownership labels mean
The UK veterinary market has seen significant consolidation in recent years, with large corporate groups acquiring many formerly independent practices. We show ownership status to help you understand who runs your local vet.
The practice is independently owned and not part of a larger corporate group, based on our most recent verification.
The practice is owned by or part of a larger corporate group. Where we know the group name (e.g. CVS Group, IVC Evidensia, Linnaeus), we show it.
We haven't yet been able to confirm the ownership status of this practice. This doesn't imply anything negative — we simply need more time to verify.
Coverage and comparison
Search by UK postcode or town. Practice coverage and price coverage differ: a listed practice may have no published prices, and several records can describe different services at one branch.
Compare the service wording, patient type, fee basis and inclusions before comparing amounts. A source label or verification flag alone does not establish that two appointments are equivalent. Missing information is not a zero price.
